1 Understanding the Default Editing Workspace

2 Tools Panel The Tools Panel stores the various editing tools you can access in the application.

3 Project Panel Video editing is a non-destructive editing process because you do not edit the original content of your files. The project panel contains references to all the footage files (video, audio, images) that you have imported into Premiere Pro in addition to sequences, titles, and other supporting material you create in the application.

4 Source Monitor Use the Source Monitor to playback and preview individual clips before you add them to a sequence.

5 Program Monitor Use the Program Monitor to playback and preview only the clips on the Timeline.

6 Media Browser The Media Browser helps you browse and preview files on your hard drive. Provides quick access to all your assets while you edit.

7 Timeline You perform the majority of you edit work on the Timeline Panel, including adding clips, positioning them, and changing their properties. Also use the timeline to add effects and transitions to the video and audio clips in your project.
