Colorado Family Planning 30,000 contraceptive IUDs provided since 2009 Participating clinic – IUDs quadrupled Teen Birth Rate – 40% Teen Abortion Rate – 35% Total Savings - $42,500,000!!! $5.68 Medicaid cost savings for every $1 spent!

2013 Cuyahoga County High School YRBS Survey – Reproductive Health Ever sexually active: 44.4% Cleveland (East) – 63.5% First Ring (East) – 56.6% Outer Ring (East) – 36.7% Sexually active (now): 32.0% Cleveland (East) – 44.6% First Ring (East) – 38.8% Outer Ring (East) – 28.7% Ever sexually active: 20% decrease from 2009 to 2013 Currently sexually active 5% decrease from 2009 to 2013

2013 Cuyahoga County High School YRBS Survey – Reproductive Health Sexually active < 13 : 7.0% Cleveland (East) – 16.9% First Ring (East) – 11.5% Outer Ring (East) – 3.8% Condom use – last time 64.9% Cleveland (East) – 65.3% First Ring (East) – 65.2% Outer Ring (East) – 71.9% Sexually active < 13: 36% decrease from 2009 to 2013 Condom use (last time) - 3% increase from 2009 to 2013

Conclusion Family planning is (cost) effective! Sexual activity differs by location, race, & SES Condom use similar among all groups Teen birth rates higher in Cleveland (East Side), Warrensville Heights, & Maple Heights.
