2 The Tang Dynasty strengthened China’s economy by supporting farming and trade.

3 They gave more land to the farmers which allowed farmers to make advances such as: They improved irrigation and introduced new ways of growing their crops. They began to growtea. They developed new kinds of rice, which grew well in poor soil, produced more per acre, grew faster, and were resistant to disease.

4 They had roads and waterways built which made travel within and outside China much easier and increased trade. They established trade routes which linked China to Central Asia, India, and Southwest Asia. They opened new ports along China’s coast to boost trade.

8 The Chinese developed new technologies, Such as steelmaking and printing.

9 Discovered that coal could be used to heat things. Developed block printing and began printing books first book was a Buddhist book called Diamond Sutra. Made armor, swords, helmets, stoves, farm tools, drills, steel chains, steel nails, and sewing needles. Mixed molten iron with carbon from coal to create steel. New Technologies For Tang And Song

10 Name New technologies Chinese printer named Pi Sheng invented the movable type for printing. Made gunpowder for use in explosives and fireworks. Built large ships with rudders and sails. Invented the compass to help them find their way at sea.

12 Tang and Song eras were a golden age for Chinese culture. Chinese rulers actively Supported art and Literature, and invited artists and poets to Live in capital city Of Changan. Chinese writers best expressed themselves in poems. Invention of printing helped to spread Chinese ideas and artwork

16 Li Bo was one of the most popular poets of the Tang Era, and his poems centered on nature. (Still Night Thoughts) Duo Fo was a favorite poet Who wrote serious poems That dealt with issues Such as social injustice and Problems with the poor (Spring Landscape).
