2 CONTENT Background Current Projects 2

3 Purpose of the Public Sector Expert Practice Committee (PSEPC) is to contribute to developing capacity in public financial management, including supply chain management and enterprise risk management and internal audit. The PSEPC have a special focus on the knowledge, skills and attributes required within their respective functional areas. Their scope of responsibility includes: – Custodianship of the Competency Framework, and – Support in the review and implementation of the CDS. BACKGROUND 3

4 The PSEPC constitutes of members from National Departments, Provincial Departments, Provincial Treasuries, and National Treasury. The committee is currently busy with the following projects: –Job and Occupational Profiles; –Learning program development and Professionalisation 4

5 CURRENT PROJECTS Job Standardisation To standardise the function of risk management personnel –Chief Risk Officer- Completed and endorsed by the committee, submitted to the DPSA for final approval. –Trainee Risk Practitioner, Risk Practitioner and Senior Risk Practitioner- Completed and endorsed by the committee, submitted to the DPSA for final approval 5

6 CURRENT PROJECTS Risk Management Skills Programme The committee has teamed up with The National school of Government and came up with a training programme that consists of three modules namely: –E-learning, which is theory based on Public Sector Risk Management Framework –Applied Risk Identification and Assessment –Risk Response and Reporting 6

7 CURRENT PROJECTS Risk Management Skills Programme (continued) Each course runs for 5 days and costs R2770 The programme was launched on the 18th August 2014 Currently being piloted with 25 Risk Practitioners in public sector Looking into introducing Risk Management courses offered by NSG at municipal level 7
