6 6 Unit 3 - Problems Present simple with Negatives and Questions The present simple negative of full verbs is don’t / doesn’t + Verb Negatives They don’t come to work on time. He doesn’t go to meetings. We use do/does for questions. (Do/does + subject + verb…?) Questions Does he work well with colleagues? Where do you work? Useful language Good morning. There are some very good restaurants in the city centre. We also use some when we offer things and ask for things. Would you like some more coffee? Can I have some tea? We use any in most questions. Do you have any beef? We also use any in negative statements. We haven’t got any beef today.

10 10 Unit 5 – Food and Entertaining Countable and Uncountable Nouns Most nouns are countable and we use a / an before them. We often just add S if there is more than one: apples, meals, restaurants Some have plural forms: women, men, people, sheep Some nouns are uncountable and are singular water, tea, sugar, milk, bread A lot of, many and much mean ‘ a large quantity or number of something’ We use a lot of with all types of nouns There aren’t a lot of flights at the weekend. He eats a lot of rice. We use many with countable nouns: How many people? We use much with uncountable nouns: I haven’t got much money.

We usually form the past simple by adding –d or –ed to the verb. 12 12 Unit 6 – Sales Past Time References Some time references refer only to the past: The special deals ended two months ago. Last week we sold 500 units – a record.
