3. GREATEST HINT EVER! Do not leave any answers blank! There is no penalty for wrong answers – just points for right answers. Do not leave any answers blank! When you are running out of time, start bubbling so that every problem has an answer. Do not leave any answers blank! If there is still a few minutes – go back to one or two that you can get a “real” answer for.

4. Section Specific Tips: English 1. Triage. You have 36 seconds per question. If you find yourself stalling on a question, bubble something in, mark it go back to later, and move on. 2. Don't go too fast. Watch for problems with punctuation like commas or apostrophes.

5. Section Specific Tips: English 3. Spend your time on punctuation problems first, instead of sentence reordering. 4. Practice, practice, practice. This section asks the same kind of questions, so you can start to predict them.

6. Section Specific Tips: Math 1. TRIAGE. Some math questions may take two seconds to solve but others minutes. If you don't know how to solve a problem or keep on getting an answer not in the choices, make a logical guess and move on. 2. Use your calculator sparingly. 3. Read the question and the answer choices carefully. Often times the question requires less work than originally thought, which can be ascertained by looking at the answers.

7. Section Specific Tips: Reading 1. TRIAGE by reading the passages you like or are best at first. There will be literature, prose, science, and social studies based passages. 2. Actually skim the passages to get a feel for the content & then go to the questions.

8. Section Specific Tips: Reading con’t. 3. Concentrate. If you have a clear mind and read the passages for the right details, you will not have to look back at them as often. 4. Save questions that use words like “NOT”, “EXACLTY”, or requires that you have read the entire passage for last.

9. Section Specific Tips: Science 1. Triage both the sections and the questions. 2. Spend your time on charts & graphs first, instead of passages. 3. Make sure you are looking at the correct table, chart, or experiment.

10. Section Specific Tips: Science con’t. 4. Realize that these are often easy questions masked in complicated jargon. 5. Again, concentrate. If you're not focused, you will have trouble comprehending the information.

11. General Tip #1 - Triage Remember each question is worth the same point value so you want to answer as many as you can in the time allotted.

12. If you find yourself stuck on a question, bubble something in and move on. For example: Place a small dot on the answer sheet next to the question number reminding you to go back to it during your spare time. Make sure to erase the dots before time is called General Tip #1 – Triage con’t.

13. General Tip #2 - Time Keeping Consider bringing a watch to monitor the time with. (No Cell phones!) This will allow you to plan a strategy for guessing or answering with the amount of time that is left.

14. General Tip #3 - Pencils Have at least two pencils, preferably three. Use regular pencils instead of mechanical pencils because they have wider tips that can fill in bubbles faster.

15. General Tip #4 – Practice Tests Take plenty of practice tests, and then take some more. Become familiar with the number & type of passages & questions. Become familiar with the directions.

16. General Tip #5 – Before the Test Try to get a good night's sleep. Don’t break your usual routine unless your usual routine is to get just a few hours of sleep. On test day, eat a decent breakfast and be on time for the test. Don't freak out. It's just a test.
