6. How do we win geothermal energy? Our earth has a lot of energy stored that can be extracted. This geothermal energy has been there since the beginning of the formation of our planet. It has been used for spacial heating and bathing since ancient Roman times.

7. The earth's crust The Earth's crust is like the skin of an apple. It is very thin in comparison to the other three layers. The crust is only about 3-5 miles (8 kilometres) long and about 25 miles (32 kilometres) thick. The temperatures of the crust vary from air temperature on top to about 1600 degrees (870 degrees Celsius).

11. Costs of geothermal energy The costs of Geothermal energy are low depending on how you approach the use of energy. Geothermal energy is heat contained within the earth. This heat energy can be found almost anywhere. As far away as remote deep wells in Indonesia and as close as the dirt in our backyards.

12. What is geothermal energy used for ? Geothermal energy can be used as a heat source in small end-use applications, but the consumers have to be located close to the source of heat. Heat from the earth can be used in many ways, from large and complex power stations to small and relatively simple pumping systems.
