Speed Writing Keep your hand moving. Don't cross out. Don't worry about spelling, punctuation, grammar or handwriting. Lose control. Don't think. Don't get logical. Go for the jugular.

Word Pools / Free Association - Using an everyday object jot down as many words or phrases that come to mind. Don’t just use adjectives, use the senses (taste, touch, smell, sound, sight) as well as emotions. - Is there a word or phrase that appeals to you? It could be a title for a story or poem. It could be the opening line. Or it could be the basis of something much bigger.

Unusual Combinations Write down a list of adjectives to describe the dinosaur. Write down a list of adjectives to describe the baby. Combine them in unusual ways. eg ferocious baby, gurgling dinosaur. Can use two everyday objects and combine for a fresh way of looking.

Tired words. Think of two other words to replace these overused words. nice holiday funny face happy got good person went home said like lots of lovely day
