5 4 When Are School Rules in Effect? Going to and from school On school property Attending or engaging in school activities

6 5 What types of clothing and accessories are NOT permitted? Articles with language or images that are vulgar, discriminatory, or obscene That which promotes illegal or violent conduct such as the unlawful use of weapons, drugs, alcohol, or tobacco That which contains threats such as gang symbols or suggests gang affiliation... Clothing that is excessively tight or exposes cleavage, midriff, tube tops, halter tops, backless blouses, see-through garments Undergarments, sagging, low-cut pants, pants with slits above the fingertips (even with leggings underneath) Studded accessories

8 7 The penalties for possession, smoking, or use of tobacco products in school buildings, on school grounds, or on school buses First offense: Focus on Tobacco Program Second offense: Suspension; Possible Report to Police. Third or subsequent violation: Suspension; Police Report

9 8 Non-Prescription Drugs Examples: Aspirin, Tylenol, caffeine pills, etc Possession= Possible suspension Distribution sharingDistribution or sharing = Up to 10 day OSS Report to the police

10 9 Property Issues Lockers, bookbags in school, and student desks are not private property and may be searched You are responsible for the personal property that you bring to school Do not bring valuable items to school Report all thefts to Security

11 10 PROPERTY VIOLATIONS Reimbursement of school property required 1-10 day OSS Report to Police

12 11 All students who take property that is not theirs WILL receive disciplinary action at the discretion of the principal. Theft = 1 to 10 days Suspension & Restitution IF it is not yours, don’t touch it! This includes but is not limited to bookbags, calculators, food, technological items, etc. …

13 12 COMPUTER USE All students must sign a PWCS computer use form before they are permitted to use a PWCS computer Consequences for violation range from suspension of computer use to OSS

14 13 Weapons Use or Possession 5 - 10 day OSS – Informal Hearing with the Principal - Possible Recommendation for Expulsion- Report to Police Included but not limited to a gun, look-alike gun, object that propels ammunition, knife, or any object used with the intention of threat or harm

15 14 Weapons also include… Studded accessory or articles of clothing such as a studded collar Mace Pepper spray Explosive devices Hoax devices

16 15 Assault on a student Includes physical or verbal assault, and written or verbal threat (such as on My Space) Up to 10 day OSS May recommend expulsion Report to police

17 16 Harassment, Bullying, Stalking, and/or Intimidation Suspension Parent Contact May Report to Police

18 17 Assault on Staff Verbal abuse: OSS Threat: 1-10 day OSS; may recommend expulsion; Report to police; Threat Assessment Physical: 5 -10 day OSS; May recommend for expulsion; Automatic recommendation for expulsion if injury occurs; Report to police; Threat Assessment

19 18 GROUP ASSAULT Two or more students assembled with the intent of committing an assault 5 - 10 days OSS Informal Hearing with the Principal Possible recommendation for expulsion Report to police

20 19 PDA* is not acceptable School is not the place for excessive displays of affection and inappropriate touching. *public displays of affection IMPROPER TOUCHING

21 20 Communication & Entertainment Devices Entertainment Devices such as iPods, MP3 Players, PSP’s, DS’s, Etc. AND Cell Phones ARE NOT PERMITTED TO BE IN VIEW, TURNED ON, OR USED WHILE IN THE SCHOOL BUILDING AND DURING THE INSTRUCTIONAL DAY (keep it in your locker) PWC does NOT assume responsibility for the security of such devices.
