5 P. 37: Misuse of cell phones Misuse of cell phones: Students are not permitted to use cell phones during the school day. Cell phones must be turned off and put away during the school day and any time the student is on the school bus.

10 Grievance Procedures – p. 53 P. 54: # 6 “The Superintendent/designee shall resolve the appeal by investigating the situation, reviewing the written appeal/records, and/or will schedule a conference to hear the grievance no later than five (5) school days following the receipt of the notice of appeal and shall issue a decision in writing no later than five (5) school days following the investigation/conference. If the discipline will result in a consequence that is less than an out-of-school suspension or expulsion, the superintendent’s decision is the final decision.”

11 Grievance Procedures – p. 53 P. 54: #7 “If the grievance decision at the Superintendent's level is not acceptable and the consequence will result in out-of-school suspension or expulsion, the Superintendent's decision may be appealed to the District Board. This appeal must be filed, in writing, no later than five (5) school days following the Superintendent's decision. The District Board shall resolve the grievance by investigating the problem, holding conferences with the involved parties and/or reviewing the written grievance records.

12 Grievance Procedures – p. 53 P. 54: Delete # 9: Further appeals may be addressed to the Delaware Secretary of Education.

13 Staff and Student Orientation All students will be oriented to the 2007 – 2008 Student Code of Conduct during the first week of school. Students will sign in for the class that orients them to the Code as well as they will sign that they and their parent/guardian have received a copy (Both the sign in sheet and acknowledgement page will be kept on file for the school year.) Staff will be oriented to the 2007 – 2008 Student Code of Conduct and the updates during one of the August in-service days.
