Football History By: Houda Kerkadi 7B

Introduction Hello! Welcome to my Slide show In P.E we were assigned a task which was about Football history I chose the 2006 FIFA world cup Enjoy!!

What was it? I chose the FIFA world cup of 2006; it was the 18 th FIFA world cup, was held from 9 th June – 9 th of July. The host country was Germany, there were 32 teams and 12 hosting cities there were 44 matches and 3,359,439 came to watch approximately 52,400 per game. It was named the most watched FIFA world cup game.

The finalists and who won? The semi finals was Germany V.S Italy and Italy won 0 – 2, Portugal V.S France and France won 0 – 1.The finalists were France and Germany and they first got a tie 1-1 then after given extra time they started the penalty shoots, Italy won 5- 3.The semi finals was Germany V.S Italy and Italy won 0 – 2, Portugal V.S France and France won 0 – 1.

What was the scoring sequence and who scored? No player managed to score a hat-trick in this tournament. Italy, Germany, Argentina, Brazil and France were the only teams to score more than one goal in a knockout match. Germany was one of the exceptions, tending to play an attacking style of football throughout the knock-out stage, which was reflected by the fact that they scored the most number of goals (14), with players from all three outfield positions (defense, midfield and forward) making the score sheet. Below here is table of people who scored in the finals: Scoring Sequence Pirlo Materazzi De Rossi Del Piero GrossoPirlo Materazzi De Rossi Del Piero Grosso 5 – 3 Wiltord Trezeguet Abidal SagnolWiltord Trezeguet Abidal Sagnol

Choose 1 of the goals and describe using Football terminology the sequence of play leading up to the goal. The hosts got three goals in 20 minutes in the second half with the help of 21-year-old left midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger’s. His first goal beat the Portuguese goalkeeper Ricardo with pace over his head. Only 4 minutes later, Schweinsteiger's free kick 30 meters from the left of the penalty box, driven low across goal, was connected with Petit's knee to become an own goal for Portugal. The German did not stop, and netted his second goal, which swerved away to the keeper's left, in the 78th minute midfielderBastian Schweinsteiger’sRicardoPetit

What could the defense have done to more effectively try and stop the goal being scored? Maybe what could the defense could have done is that on eat the right and the left and in this way if the goalie gets tricked the defense would be there. But in this case this was a penalty shoot so the defense could have been really fast and took it out.

The end Thank-You for watching
