Origin of Name The word Halloween is first attested in the 16 th century and represents a Scottish variant of the fuller All-Hallows-Eve, that is, the night before All Hallows Day. Although the phrase All Hallows is found in Old English (the feast of all saints). All- Hallows-Even is itself not attested until 1556.

Halloween is one of the most attractive holidays for children. People celebrated Halloween on the 31st October.

Halloween colors are orange and black.

PEOPLE DRESS UP AS WITCHES, GHOSTS, DEVILS AND SKELETONS. THEY CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN WITH GAMES, BONFIRES AND PARTIES.

LONG AGO PEOPLE BELIEVED IN WITCHES AND GHOSTS. THEY THOUGHT THAT THE DEAD CAME BACK TO THEIR HOMES ON HALLOWEEN AND WALKED AROUND ALL NIGHT.

The black cat is associated with witches. Some people also believe that cats are the spirits of the dead.

THE JACK-O-LANTERN ( TYPICALLY A CARVED PUMPKIN).THE TERM IS NOT PARTICULARLY COMMON OUTSIDE NORTH AMERICA, ALTHOUGH THE PRACTICE OF CARVING LANTERNS FOR HALLOWEEN IS.

THE JACK-O'-LANTERN GOT HIS NAME FROM A MAN NAMED JACK WHO PLAYED JOKES ON THE DEVIL.

JACK-O-LANTERN. THE JACK-O-LANTERN CHUCKLED THEN WINKED HIS FUNNY EYE, «I WOULD RATHER BE A PUMPKIN-FACE THAN BE INSIDE A PIE!» JOLLY WOLLY PUMPKIN FACE YOU’RE HAPPY TELL US WHY. I’D RATHER BE A PUMPKIN FACE AND NOT A PUMPKIN PIE!
