2 Federalists Important Federalists George Washington James Madison Benjamin Franklin Alexander Hamilton John Jay Federalists were people who supported the Constitution. -They wanted a strong National Government. -It was a good Balance of Power.

3 Anti-Federalists Important Anti-Federalists George Mason Richard Henry Lee Samuel Adams Patrick Henry Anti-Federalists were people who were against the Constitution. They were scared of a strong Central Government. They demanded a Bill of Rights.

4 The Fight was about! The Anti-Federalists were afraid that the National Government was given too much power. The Anti-Federalists were afraid that the National Government was given too much power. They also were afraid the strong government would take away their Rights. They also were afraid the strong government would take away their Rights. We Want a “Bill of Rights”!!!

5 The Compromise! The Constitution would not become the “Supreme Law of the Land” until 9 of the 13 states ratified it. →To gain the support of the Anti-Federalist, a Bill of Rights was added. This Bill of Rights was a list of the specific rights that people have. →James M adison and Thomas Jefferson were 2 Federalist leaders that fought to get a Bill of Rights added to the Constitution.
