5. Jesus contradicts the tendencies Jesus wants me to call God “Abba” and “Father”. For Jesus I am most myself in my relationship with God. I am not isolated from others when I am in a covenant relationship with God. This contradicts the tendency to be isolated from others (#5) and to be godless (#7)

6. My relationship with Abba/Father is my freedom. Freedom is essential but it is not a possession. It is a gift we cannot give ourselves. The thing that has power over our freedom is sin. I am made whole by the forgiving nature of Jesus. This contradicts the tendency I am free (#1)

7. The earth is good and is a gift from God. I am not master of the earth. It belongs to God; I am called to be its caretaker or steward. This contradicts the tendency I am master of the earth (#6) He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse. Proverbs 28:27

8. Other people are as important as I am. The world does not revolve around me. For Jesus, my relationship with him and with God must also be a commitment to others. Equality is not an illusion to God. We are all equal. This contradicts the tendency “I am equal” (#3)
