2 What is TAMs TAMs is a sophisticated computerized system.
TAMs interfaces and integrates the majority of electronic information within the airport TAMs assure Maximum flow of information for operations and management, Providing extraordinary levels of service, Safety and comfort to the travelling public Airports are very large, complex systems due to: Interface between different Traffic Modes (Air, Rail, Road,...) Internal Traffic (Passenger, Luggage, Cargo, Crew,...) Various Services (ATC, Catering, Fire Brigade, Towing cars,...) Dependencies between Services due to: Share of common resources (e.g. Tarmac of the Apron) Share of common objective (Transport of Persons and Goods) The integration also supports the business goals of providing an efficient, cost effective operation of KLIA as it is the nucleus on the Multimedia Super Corridor and as the precursor to the next generation of airports in Malaysia and the world. K.L. International Airport will be equipped with a sophisticated computerised system called TAMS. TAMS applies advanced Information Technology (IT) concepts and equipment to help make KLIA a primary international transportation hub for South-east Asia. TAMS is a state-of-the-art technology, designed with a high level of sophistication. This system interfaces and integrates the majority of electronic information within the airport, assuring maximum flow of information for operations and management, and providing unprecedented levels of service, safety and comfort to the travelling public. This, in turn, will help bring more tourists and business to Malaysia. This integration also supports the business goals of providing an efficient, cost effective operation of KLIA. As both a primary node on the Multimedia Super Corridor and as the precursor to the next generation of airports in Malaysia, KLIA will demonstrate advanced airport technologies and be a model for future IT enterprise solutions for Malaysia and the world.

3 Objectives of TAMS According to KLIA, The main objectives of TAMS are:
Operating an airport in an EFFICIENT manner Increased QUALITY SERVICES to airport users Centralized airport authority MANAGEMENT Efficient, FAST AND SAFE processing of passengers, baggage and cargo

4 Sub-systems In TAMS There are 17 sub-systems in TAMS,
Flight Information Display System (FIDs) Apron Services Management System (ASMS), Baggage Handling System (BHS) Air Traffic Management System (ATMS) Runway/Taxiway Lighting Control System Gate Allocation System Passenger Check-In System 8. Automated Warehouse System, Closed Circuit Television, Meteorological System, Facility Management System, Building Management System Noise Monitoring System, PABX System, Point of Sale System, Card Access System, and Trunked Radio System.

5 Flight Information Display Systems (FIDs)
FIDs is a computer system display located inside or around an airport terminal. It function to display arrivals and departures flight information in real-time to passengers.

6 Apron Services Management System (ASMS)
KLIA ASMS is function to provide a unified system for all major users of the airport passenger gates. These include MAHB, the airlines, aircraft ground crew, maintenance and engineering personnel, and several airport administrative departments. KLIA ASMS monitors the availability, operations, and usage of the apron equipment located at each of the 52 passenger gates at KLIA. To integrate the IGSS SCADA system to the Flight Information and Display System (FIDS) and the airport Management Information System (MIS). One system for all users The KLIA Apron Services Management System (ASMS) was conceived by Malaysian Airport Technologies Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of MAHB, KLIA ASMS was entirely designed and put in place by a multi-party team lea by SysWin Controls Sdn Bhd, one of 7-Technologies’ IGSS System Integrator partners in Malaysia that specializes in airport automation systems. The ASMS system comprises 3 major components. They are: The IGSS SCADA system connected to a network of over 50 units of Omron CJ1 PLCs. The Interface Module between IGSS and the airport Flight Information and Display System (FIDS). The Data and Report Distribution Module between IGSS and the airport’s SAPbased Management Information System (MIS).

7 Baggage Handling System (BHS)
Baggage Handling System (BHS) will transport baggage between the two terminals at speeds of up to 36 km/hour, compared to the previous rate of 7.2 km/hour. This will enable much faster and more efficient handling of customer baggage

8 Air Traffic Management System (ATMS)

9 Runway/Taxiway Lighting Control System

10 Gate Allocation Systems

11 Passenger Check-In System

12 Automated Warehouse System,

13 Total Airport Management System
Sub-systems In TAMS All these systems are linked by high speed fibre optic cable to form TAMS. Total Airport Management System ATC Apron Control Airline Catering ... Optimized Use of Airport Ressources due to Integrated Operations More Throughput through the Airport Enhanced Robustness by Improved Management of Exceptions More Money for the Service Less Environmental Impact for the Society More Comfort for the Passengers / Customers Airport Ressources

14 Advantages of TAMs TAMS encompasses:-
Centralised databases that expedite information sharing among various airport systems. Centralised Management Information System for management of airport human, physical, financial and information assets. Centralised Airport operation centres that co-ordinate and expedite airport functions during normal and emergency situations.

15 Advantages of TAMs These systems are all connected by a network infrastructure of fiber optics and copper-based telecommunications backbone used by all airport voice, data, and video users. However, each can operate independently in the event of a central control system failure. The integration of these primary groups of sub-systems at KLIA brings a new level of functionality and service to international airports and will be the catalyst that will ensure KLIA as a major hub in this region.
