4 Sample imitation products from jewelry stores, pharmacies or the web… Problems with the look-alike products: – Accuracy of data questionable – Information often outdated – No 24-hour telephone access – No electronic health record – No world-wide access; no translation available – No emergency responder education program. Be Aware of Imitations!

6 6 Potential Emergency Conditions … Potential emergency situations where MedicAlert can speak on behalf of their member: Diabetes emergency Asthma attack Allergies / Anaphylaxis Confusion, Alzheimer’s Seizures Communication impairments: deaf, mute, too young, too old, language barriers (travel)

7 7 But did you also know… This patient is allergic to the drug that would normally be given to control severe seizures! This patient has received Streptokinaze in the last 6 months! Other examples Difficult intubation! Use fiberoptic intubation. This patient has an Implanted Defibrillator! Organ & tissue donation wishes on file. Do no perform an MRI, this patient has a clipped cerebral aneurysm! No anesthetic gas, no succinylcholine should be administered.
