3 PB Farradyne 3 Project Purpose TMC Pooled Fund Study Project Develop a Technical Document that: –Provides guidance and recommended practices on planning, developing, and implementing recovery and redundancy plans –Characterizes recovery and redundancy within the TMC environment –Makes clear why recovery and redundancy is important –Recommends best practices –Offers lessons learned –Offers practical solutions

6 PB Farradyne 6 Task A Approach – Literature Review Initial literature search will cover material related to the underlying issues of recovery and redundancy Will include technical documents related to security and cybersecurity May include additional reports gathered from on-site visits

7 PB Farradyne 7 Task A Approach - On-Site Interviews Ten (10) TMC’s including: –State transportation operations centers –Regional transportation operations centers –State Homeland Security Fusion Center Focus of interviews will be on experience in terror attacks, weather events, and other emergencies Draft questions will be prepared prior to the site visits and revised, if necessary, following interviews

15 PB Farradyne 15 Task C Approach - Outreach Materials Presentation materials will include slides and speaker notes when requested A project presentation will be prepared as a 15-minute overview for a general audience. The subject presentation will provide more detailed technical information geared towards executives, managers, and technical staff of TMCs

16 PB Farradyne 16 Task C Approach - Distribution Plan The distribution plan will be used to raise the level of awareness of availability of the technical document Distribution channels are anticipated to include: –FHWA Resource Centers –FHWA Division Offices –Electronic notice to TMC officials –List of agencies, organizations, and web sites
