2 Reminders Register Now: Swimmers must be registered to swim with us due to insurance requirements. Enter the Shadyside Academy building through the doors by the tennis courts.

5 Fundraising Each family MUST participate in our fundraising projects There will be at least 1 fundraiser this year If a family does not fundraise, that family's account will forfeit the $100 fundraising incentive fee that was collected when you registered your swimmer for the season

6 Highlands Practice Site The Highlands Pool has a large leak that will not be fixed until approximately November. All practices will now be at Shadyside Academy pending further notice.

7 Shadyside Academy Practice Site Shadyside Academy has agreed to permit us to use their facility for practices while our new pool is under construction. All groups will practice at Shadyside Academy Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday Bronze – 6:15-7:00 Silver and SS 7:00-8:00 Jr. Gold 8—9:15Gold 8-9:30 EVERYONE MUST PARK IN THE HILLMAN LOT ALL DROP OFFS AND PICK UPS AT SIDE ENTRANCE

8 Volunteer Why do we need volunteers? ▫Fees pay mostly for coaching ▫Volunteers to run club (board, social, etc. are all volunteers) ▫Volunteers to run meets  FCKW part of two larger communities, Allegheny Mountain Swimming and USA Swimming  We have a commitment to AMS to host swim meets; all meets are made possible by volunteers ▫Volunteers for other AMS obligations  Stroke & turn officials at all meets (Tony Luciana)  Volunteers at larger meets (parents of those swimmers)

9 Volunteer What is VIF? (Volunteer Incentive Fee) ▫$100 deposit per family ▫Broken into 2 credits ▫Earn back  Help with meets or with team (such as social coordinator)  At meets: 1 meet session worked = 1 credit (concessions, awards, on deck)  FCKW will host a meet on February 20 & 21  Could earn back by 2 parents working  Some opportunities earn back both credits (concessions coordinator, officials)  If families cannot send a representative to help at meets, we offer some opportunities to earn credit back by donating food, but at least one credit must be earned back by helping in person

10 Home meet – February 20-21, 2016 ALL FAMILIES ARE EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE ▫Time ▫Donate food to concession stand ▫Ribbon/Awards ▫Help with concession stand ▫There is a job for everyone....even if you know NOTHING about swimming!!! WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!

11 Beyond the VIF We really don’t want to keep your VIF. We want your help! Each meet takes about 150 volunteers and requires 40 concession donations By asking families to commit to a minimum of working 2 sessions, we hope the fun and importance convince you to help more This organization cannot exist without your help.

12 Consider a full VIF position We are currently seeking volunteers for five full- VIF positions: ▫Volunteer coordinator ▫Concessions coordinator ▫Meet Director In Training ▫Stroke & Turn Officials ▫Technology person for running meet computers

19 Meets Explained Bronze and Silver Swimmers should attend at least 2 meets per year...the First Splash (Ages 9 and older) at the beginning of the season and the Last Splash at the end of the season We will automatically enter all swimmers Ages 9 and over in the First Splash meet. If a swimmer chooses not to swim in these meets, you may eliminate their entry by editing their commitment PRIOR TO the meet entry deadline on SEPTEMBER 15, 2015.

20 Super Silver, Jr. Gold and Gold should attend 1 meet per month. Sign up for any meet you’d like to attend; coaches can decide if it’s appropriate Meets are very tailored to each child’s ability, so every child has a good chance of success. Meets Explained

21 Meets: Bronze, Silver Halloween Relays ▫October 28, 2015 – Shadyside Academy Travel meets for all swimmers: ▫Cleveland Shaker Shark Meet: December 4-6, 2015 in Cleveland, OH First Splash and Last Splash ▫October 10-11, 2015 ▫March 19-20, 2016

22 Meets: Special Meets for 8&Under Mini Meets (8& unders) ▫Oct 31 – Nov 1, 2015 – Moon High School ▫December 4-6, 2015 – Shaker Shark meet in Cleveland, OH ▫December 5-6, 2015 – West Allegheny ▫January 23-24, 2016 – West Allegheny ▫February 13-14, 2016– TBD ▫March 5-6, 2016 – Mini Champs

23 Meets: Sign ups Will receive email one week before event closes Sign up for meet by deadline, online Note special circumstances (ex: Sunday only) Coach will choose events If signup for meet, club must pay fees, so swimmer’s account will be charged for fees. Time standards established for each meet. You can check our child's times by clicking the Resource tab and clicking “My Progress”

25 Finding Meets Events can be found under Meets/Events tab

26 Event Information Some events are schedule changes or other notices. Other events ask for swimmer registration, such as swim meets. Swim meet events show all relevant information, including: ▫Registration deadline ▫Location of event ▫Meet Invitations (will be posted when available) ▫Other required documents, including waivers ▫Travel information if necessary. All registered users will be sent an e-mail regarding the closing of each meet, 1 week prior to the closing.

27 Signing up for Events When a swimmer can join an event, the event notice will include a box, “Attend this Event.” Click on this box and your swimmers’ names will appear, along with their current status for this event.

28 Signing up your Swimmer Choose a swimmer’s name to sign-up that swimmer. Select commitment from drop- down box Leave comments here regarding dates not available.

29 Changing or Checking Event Status To change or check your event commitment, return to the Athlete Event Signup. Adjust commitment if necessary. Add comments if necessary. We cannot remove a swimmer from a meet after the entry deadline has passed. You will still be billed if your swimmer signs up and does not attend or if you change your commitment AFTER the event deadline (we still have to pay the host club in both instances)
