4 INNOVATION is a term used in a variety of ways and contexts, many of which overlap and some of which are rather contradictory. Using the one for our project: In the Innovation Union plan of 2013, innovation broadly means change that speeds up and improves the way we conceive, develop, produce and access new products, industrial processes and services – changes that create more jobs, improve people’s lives and build greener and better societies. Innovation policy in general is about supporting companies to perform better and contributing to wider social objectives, such as growth, jobs and sustainability.

5 NETWORKING Many interpretations are present for networking. Some items to be considered: Necessary for facing complexity (not more genius working alone as for example Edison and Bell): technology is complex, market is complex Multidisciplinarity as need to be innovative Diverse talents and expertise are necessary Distributed knowledge for avoiding to be too related to individuals Role of a leader Quadruple helix as good example

6 OPEN QUESTIONS: What your experience? Is it easy? No, it is not –People jealous? –High competition –Policy not ready Can the smart specialisation help this? Regions as possible context? …?
