The laws are voted in a two-chamber parlement (the Senat and the Assemblée Nationale) In France, there are 65 million inhabitants on 675 000 km². The inhabitants are called the French. The moto is Liberty, Equality, Fraternity

3 The president The president is François Hollande, he was elected on the 6th May 2012. He is elected for 5 years directly by the population. His prime minister is Jean- Marc Ayrault. The previous president was Nicolas Sarkozy

4 French specialities * Bread is a base of french's food, especially the Baguette. * Wine is an alcoholic drink, based on grape. There are 3420 different wines in France. * There are between 350 and 400 different types of cheese.

5 THE CAPITAL: Paris PARIS is the capital of France. There are 2,2 million inhabitants in Paris (12 million in the urban area) It is the most visited capital city in the world.

6 Moutain chains and rivers In France, there are 5 montains chains : The Alps with the Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe (4807 m) The Pyreneans at the Spanish border The Massif central in the middle The Jura at the swiss border The Vosges near Germany There are five long rivers The Rhin at the eastern border The Seine which flows in Paris The Garonne near Toulouse The Rhone which flows in Lyon The Loire is the longest of them (1000 km from the masif central to the Atlantic ocean.
