4 The Cities “les villes” Paris -It is the capital of France. -It is located on the Seine river that cuts Paris into the left and right banks. -The oldest part of Paris, where the first Parisians settled, is Île de la Cité. -Paris is home to many famous monuments, like the Eiffel Tower (la Tour Eiffel) and Notre-Dame (Notre Dame de Paris). *Paris is the largest city in France, a business and cultural center, and it is one of the world's major cities. *Paris was ranked as the tenth greenest city in Europe in 2010. Bordeaux -Bordeaux is located in Southwest France. -Bordeaux is the 9th largest city in France. -There are a lot of grape vineyards in Bordeaux. It is the biggest grape producer in the world. Strasbourg -Strasbourg is located in Northeast France, near Germany. -It has a German and French influence on the culture and its architecture. -The University of Strasbourg is the largest in France. Strasbourg is known for its colleges of higher education. It also has the second largest library in France, with over 3,000,000 pieces of writing.
