IOWA HAS MAJOR MANAGEMENT AND CONSTRUCTION RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE CMS HADRONIC CALORIMETER, ESPECIALLY HF.

5 5 HF was 1 st CMS detector in the CMS Cavern. HF+ Commissioned Air Source Drivers for HB & HE completed and shipped HF- Commissioned HF Source Drivers completed and delivered. HF participated in CRAFT, CRUZET and beam splash. HF Phase I upgrade R&D and related test beams at FNAL and CERN. HE Phase II upgrade R&D and related test beams at FNAL and CERN. HCAL ACTIVITIES Iowa achieved several major milestones in CMS

11 11 Conclusions Installation and commissioning at CERN FY08-09 K. Cankocak, J.P. Merlo, A. Mestvirishvili, I. Schmidt [HF CommissioningTask Leaders] Several Major CMS Milestones Achieved. Iowa Postdocs and students will maintain and operate remaining Iowa delivered equipment/parts for [2000 PMTs & μ-metals (HF), 260 PCB Base Boards (HF), Radioactive source system components (HF), 1728 light-guides (HF), 220 LED boards (HB, HE, HO and HF) and 200 (HO) interface boards, HCAL Source Drivers (Air & Electric) and the ZDC detector. New projects [ZDC Lifting Crane, Online monitoring for HF] R&D for SLHC [Quartz plates, PPAC, Raddam (Argonne,CERN)] R&D for ILC, Quartz Detector for Compton Polarimeter and Digital Hadron RPC Calorimeter. HCAL Trigger, Monitoring and Upgrades. HCAL DPG and DQM Activities. Large US and Iowa investment in LHC and discovery physics potential next 10-20 years. CMS Built it/Maintain it. Leadership roles of K. Cankocak, J. Nachtman, Y. Onel, I. Schmidt,T. Yetkin Physics Simulations Standard model, MSSM higgs discovery and study on properties, SUSY Searches. Support USCMS, LPC @ Fermilab Physics efforts. LPC Dijet Topology group activities -- Search for New Physics in Multi-jet Events Jet-MET/Hcal DPG/Tau POG Group Educate/train students-postdocs, Do Physics. WE NEED OUR BASE ENHANCEMENT NOW!
