WHAT IS ATHENS? Athens is a password system that controls access to most of our electronic resources such as databases, e- books and e-journals. You need to log into Athens in order to access Brookes e-resources off campus. Some resources require you to log into Athens even when youre on campus. All you need are your Brookes login details – your staff/student number and portal password. To log into Athens, go to the Library home page.

LIBRARY HOME PAGE

4 Username = your Brookes staff/student number Password = your portal password. Logo indicates this is a Brookes page

LOOK UP YOUR RESOURCE Once logged in, choose from the options or return to the Library home page and look up your resource.

FOLLOW THE APPROPRIATE CONNECTION LINK

IF YOU SEE ANOTHER LOGIN SCREEN… 7 If you see an additional login screen, IGNORE the login boxes Click on the Athens login link to proceed

This indicates youre logged in as a Brookes user

IF YOU FORGET TO LOG IN…. Dont worry if you forget to log into Athens on the Library home page. You can always use the green Athens login link which appears on every page.

REMEMBER… Always log into Athens if youre off campus. Log in on the Library web site – not when you get to the database. If you see an additional login screen – dont log in again. Look for an Athens button and click on this to proceed.
