1 Author Instructions How to upload Single Abstract to the paper management system

2 Abstract Make sure you look at the sample abstract on the website so you know what information the National Technical Program Committee would like included. Single Abstract is a document that describes one presentation that someone is interested in speaking on during the structures congress. Single abstracts are reviewed and grouped with similar single abstracts to create a 90 minute session. You are not working with a group to organize a full 90 minute program. You submit your abstract to a topic and subtopic

3 Step 1 – Log into paper management system Paper Management System Website http://submissions.miracd.com/ASCE/Structures2015 If you have ever used Mira you have an account. You do not need a new account every year. If you are a new user select New User at the top of screen to create an account.http://submissions.miracd.com/ASCE/Structures2015 If you do not remember you password use the forgot my password button or e-mail Debbie Smith at dsmith@asce.org for assistance.dsmith@asce.org Use this if you forgot your password New User button

4 Step 2 -Author Page You want to select submit a new individual abstract Authors have 3 choices; 1)Submit a New Individual Abstract 2) Submit Abstract to an Existing Session Proposal (only if you have been asked to do this) 3) Create a New Full Session Proposal It is very important that you make the correct selection..

5 Topics Topics and Subtopics appear in a drop down menu when you make your submission. Note: Invited LPC, Invited NTPC, or TAD Mini track is ONLY for people who have been contacted by one of these groups. If you have not been asked to upload your submission to one of these Please do not use it. Your submission will not be considered for the conference if uploaded to this topic when you were not invited.

6 Step 3 -Author information page On this page you enter all the author information. Note – what ever is on this page is what is included in the printed material. You can modify this before the abstract goes for review or when you upload your final paper. The people entered are the only people who will receive communication from mirasmart.com.

7 Step 4 Abstract On the abstract page you enter the title of the abstract and upload the file. However you enter the title is how it will display later. PDF’s are not an allowable file type. Use Word. Note: The login and password used to upload this submission is what is used for everything including the upload of the final paper. This can not be changed.

8 Step 5 -Abstract Details Page On this page you select the Topic, Subtopic and Presentation Preference. Make sure you hit save and continue.

9 Step 6 -Copyright If you submit a final paper for publication in the Conference Proceedings, please note: The proceedings will be copyrighted and published by ASCE. It is the author’s responsibility to obtain the necessary permissions or approvals from employers, project owners, or clients prior to submission of the final paper for publication. Material included in your submission from previously published sources, including the internet, may require permission from the copyright holder of that publication or Web Site. It is the authors responsibility to obtain the permission for reuse of this materials and include the appropriate credit information in the paper.

10 Copyright Read the Copyright and permission information and select the appropriate response.

11 Step 7 -Proof Read On this page you view your abstract and choose one of the options below.

12 Step 8 -Submit your abstract Read the options and select the appropriate one. If you do not hit accept my abstract the process is not done.

14 Remember The login and password used to upload the abstract is what has to be used for the final paper. This can not be changed. Attendance and Registration for the Conference are mandatory. Abstract Documents only – get converted to plain text so bullets and other special formatting will not show up. Abstract Documents only – do not include title or authors on the document you upload because it gets pulled from system during conversion. NOTE Final Papers you must have it correct in the system but also correct on the final paper document that you upload.
