5 The American Crocodile Length-about 15 feet long Diet- crabs, fish, raccoons, and waterbirds Habitat-sometimes found in the ocean, but young ones prefer to stay in fresh water The female croc buries her eggs in a mound of dirt and plant matter. She returns to the nest when she hears the sounds of the hatchlings. 6 The Leopard Lizard This agile lizard is active during the day. It darts from bush to bush in search of insects or lies hidden in the shade awaiting unwary prey. It frequently eats smaller lizards. Leopard lizards can radically change their color from pale gray with dark spots to deep chocolate brown. 7 The Mediterranean Gecko This lizard is native to parts of Europe, Africa, and Asia, but has spread all over the world when humans accidentally carried it along with cargo in ships These lizards are also called House Geckos.
