3 Features of current contracts Procured using the NHS Purchasing & Supplies Agency (PASA) Framework Agreement (FA), which is also used for local procurement. The FA lists approved suppliers and includes a ‘model licence’ for eJournals. 5 Changes Contracts have transferred from NLH to NHS Evidence NHS Evidence procurement strategy is under development All elements of the technical infrastructure are being reviewed The Framework Agreement is being transferred from PASA to OGC Buying Solutions And, of course, the financial downturn....... www.nesc.nhs.uk

7 Current e-resource purchasing in SC 63 different e-book titles from Coutts and Ovid e-Royal Marsden Manual from Wiley purchased by five services 12 different databases – three services purchase UpToDate, two each purchase Global Health and Medical Masterclass 205 different e-journal titles, of which only 17 purchased by more than one service 8 journal archives Purchases typically for 1 or 2 organisations www.nesc.nhs.uk

8 Collaborative purchasing elsewhere NHS East Midlands – 8 acute Trusts collaboratively purchase 25 e-journals from Ovid NHS North East – mental health Trusts collectively buy the Ebsco Psychology/Behavioural Sciences collection NHS Yorks & Humber – pan-Leeds purchase of 7 journals NHS North West – SHA and acute Trusts 9 journals, SHA and PCTs 6 journals NHS London – joint NHS-HE purchase of Ovid’s LWW collection and BMJ’s DTB A few other examples – e-books or purchases for NHS+HE by HE-managed libraries www.nesc.nhs.uk
