The day, specifically designated by King George V on 7 November 1919.George V Remembrance Day marks the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, back in 1918.

3 3 A two minute silence is held at 11am to remember the people who have died in wars.

4 4 The red remembrance poppy has become a familiar emblem of Remembrance Day due to the poem, “ In Flanders Fields“. 5 5 The Royal British Legion is a charity to help people in the armed forces and their families. The Royal British Legion was founded by veterans of the First World War who adopted the poppy as their symbol of Remembrance and hope.
