Our vision is to provide the highest quality programs and services to our constituents, and to earn an international reputation for excellence. Hot Docs is the largest documentary film festival in North America and one of the fastest growing festivals in the world. Programmed and managed by Hot Docs, the Cinema is a year-round home for documentary films and doc enthusiasts and boasting over 6,000 members. Since launching just over two years ago, the Cinema has quickly established itself as an exciting cultural hub, offering dozens of partner film festivals and other events a state-of the art, fully licensed venue that's powered by 100 per cent green electricity. 3 Documentary – There’s Something For Everyone! Watching a documentary can be a serendipitous journey where the real lives of strangers unfold before an audience’s eyes. That special sense of discovery and feeling of close connection to the subject of the film awakens an empathy within the audience. That is the intangible magic of documentary. The Hot Docs Festival showcases stories and subjects from around the world exploring the extraordinary lives of others. With subject matter and style as vast as the mind can imagine, there is quite literally something for everyone at the Festival. From the high profile subjects and personalities featured in the Big Ideas Series, to the homegrown talent of the Canadian Spectrum; the eclectic and avant-garde films in the Nightvision and Next programs, to the programs featuring specific countries, regions and themes, Hot Docs offers audiences an indelible range of content to explore the world in their own backyard.
