Power Measurement (PM) Teamwork is measured by measuring power. –The power of teams is the reason we work together. –The power of tools is the reason we use equipment.

Understand the Power To be good team members, we must understand the power of the people and things around us.

Power Measurement Power measurement measures change. –For example: It defines what goes in and what comes out of a process, Without caring about how that change is accomplished.

Maximize Team Power As an added benefit, power measurement defines both power potential and actual power usage. –For example: one teammate may be underused and another overused. Knowing this, power measurement helps maximize the team power.

Teamwork from PM –Power measurement defines the team. PM defines the big picture (the strategy, the power) so sequence and timing will be more obvious to teammates.

PM example: PM tells you who needs the equipment and why. PM tells you who share the floor space and their share. PM tells you facility requirements and actual facilities.

PM example cont. PM measures team power with the players on the floor. PM tells you the role you will play depending on how the team matches up with the players on the floor.

Strategy Focusing on one team, the definition of strategy and team seem to come together; but, Notice the strategic entities bring with them other teams.

Combining Strategies Strategic planning is the process of combining strategies. –In life we share facilities and facilitators, we compete for customers, and we recognize markets. Strategic thinking requires defining several strategies and teams.
