Internet tool to find answers to poorly defined questions SmartNet © ITC Software, 2003 www.itcsoftware.com

World Wide Web Internet is World Wide Data Storage. Internet is huge. Internet becomes larger and larger day after day.

Internet contains billions of data units However, these data units combine a heap of unstructured information. An Internet user feels quite lonely facing the problem of finding an answer to his question. At that point he is absolutely sure, that the answer exists. So, the user meets the “problem of understanding” that is quite usual for Internet.

We know how to solve the problem Our approach is the only realistic way to find the answer to any question of any Internet-user

Our method overcomes all existing approaches Existing approaches to solve the problem of understanding inside Internet are based on natural language request recognition and focus on finding the exact meaning of the question. We focus on finding the exact answer to the question.

Natural language request recognition is not enough and it is even not necessary Having understood the question, one needs to find the answer. In reality Internet knowledge is the aggregated knowledge of all Internet users. Our method is based on collecting, processing and storing of this aggregated knowledge

SmartNet is an ASP-module to be added to any informational system that deals with structured data “Structured data” means information on some objects, each of them having a number of attributes. There is a great number of examples: books in the library, goods at the store, products at the commodity exchange, securities at the stock exchange, air flight tickets, data in any structured informational resources (e.g. Internet sites about pet breeds, sports, etc.).

User has an ability to build Smart Query for the information he is interested in:

After creating the query user asks the Net:

The user’s question could be poorly defined or even formulated in a natural language:

All the questions are automatically transferred to the Expert’s Floor:

At this floor all the users that had registered as experts can give their opinion on the issue:

User gets the opinion of other Net users on the item he is interested in:

Easily managed SmartNet is easy to use and it is comfortably managed by the special Remote Control

First main objective of SmartNet use: To find an answer to an uncertain question. There could be a number of answers ofdifferent importance to the same question. User is free to make the final selection himself. This feature is of a special interest in regards to data which is being permanently renewed (e.g. “enough RAM for computer” is not a constant value. It changes approximately in one-two months). User receives the absolutely perfect and up-to-date answer to such questions.

Second main objective of SmartNet use: To store the answer(s) found. The SmartNet dictionary is ever- growing. Next time the same question appears, the answer is ready instantly. SmartNet provides the abilities to renew old, not up-to-date answers in a natural way.

Third main objective of SmartNet use: To define a fuzzy-logic request and to translate it into the search language of basic data storage. A user makes his request in the most convenient way. Moreover, he can formulate the request in a natural language, and SmartNet will work it out.

Additional competitive advantages of SmartNet : SmartNet has advanced means of statistical data gathering and storage for further analytical use. SmartNet is user-friendly. SmartNet has WAP-ready Web interface.

Properly built machine works properly Our method is based on modern mathematics: fuzzy algebra theory

We used up-to-date software to build SmartNet: SmartNet is developed with the best and most proper software instruments: Oracle 8i and JAVA. Thus, SmartNet is efficient, reliable, well scalable and absolutely platform independent.

Prospects We are ready to apply our fuzzy requests recognition method to any Internet task which meets the terms and concepts of the “problem of understanding”
