9 The Early Explorers Marco Polo: The First Renaissance Explorer Born in Venice Lived in China Brought back goods Introduced the Venetians to paper money Inspired Christopher Columbus

10 Speaking of Columbus… Grew up in Genoa, Italy Sailed on trading ships Drew and sold maps Queen Isabella thought he was cool and offered him a salary Lucky for him it worked… He brought her cargo He battled storms on his last expedition
