3 Needs Analysis All schools and centres in County Wicklow targeted – 200 responses

4 Needs Analysis Report Recommended: – Development of generic modules covering the basic IWB features and those that support general cognitive activities(ordering, structuring, comparing), and specific instructions on the use of tools for two most popular brands. – Design of training materials as modular as possible, designed to support an eclectic approach – Train teachers to improve selection of resources – Select the subject content to reflect more popular subjects mentioned. – Foster discussion and awareness on the added value of IWBs in education – Combine training with general pedagogical principles and topics – Increase and improve access to existing IWBs

5 Training Programme Focus – Enhancing teacher expertise – Developing collaboration Target – groups of teachers in some centres; transfer to other teachers both in these centres and in other CWVEC centres and schools; transfer to other providers throughout Ireland Aims: training in core IWB skills, including: – Technical Skills – using the IWB functions; maintenance issues – Pedagogical Skills – teaching aspects; designing lessons; moving towards interaction and collaboration in the classroom Training approach – Action research – Collaborative Learning – Community of Practice – Peer tutoring – Cognitive apprenticeship – participating in a real, but supported environment – Blended Learning
