Work – the result of a force MOVING an object.

Types of Simple Machines Inclined Plane A flat surface with one side higher than the other. (a ramp)

Types of Simple Machines Wheel and Axle A wheel attached to a rod.

Types of Simple Machines Wedge A simple machine with slanted sides.

Types of Simple Machines Lever A stiff bar that rests on a support called a fulcrum which lifts or moves loads. (the longer your lever the easier the lift)

Types of Simple Machines Screw An incline plane wrapped around a rod.

Types of Simple Machines Pulley A simple machine that uses a rope and a wheel to move an object. (The more pulleys, the longer the rope, the easier it is to pull)
