4 Who Am I Essay Students will write an essay describing what kinds of activities they enjoy in their spare time. They should also include their hobbies, extracurricular activities, likes, and dislikes. Students will be completing several interest inventories in an effort to help identify areas of interest that may have not been considered. The essay should include information about their hobbies, extracurricular activities, likes, and dislikes, but also a reflection. Students should reflect on how they feel their choices will impact their career choice. The following questions should be answered in the reflection. 1.Do you feel your hobbies and extracurricular activities have any influence on your chosen career path? Why or Why not? 2.Do you feel your likes and dislikes play a role in choosing your "grown-up" career? Why or Why not? 3.Do you feel your parents/guardians play a part in how you choose your career? Explain. 4.What other elements do you feel influence your career choice and who you think you are? Explain. 5.Does college and its location play a role in how you will choose your career? How? 6.Does the income have any influence on the choice you make for a career? Why or Why not? These questions are a good place to start when thinking about where your future is going to take you. When writing this essay, focus on how these small things can play a big part in choosing your career.

5 Career Description The results of the career, interest, and personality assessments can be used to help motivate the student to further explore the areas of interest in which he/she received high scores. Students will be asked to write a job description of their ideal job which would give insight into which occupation to explore further. The following questions should be answered through their job description: Do you prefer to work indoors or outdoors? Do you like to be told what is expected of you or would you prefer some freedom to do what you want? Would you prefer to work during the daytime, evening, or night? Are you a hands-on worker or would you prefer not to get dirty? Do you want to work with the public or would you prefer to have some privacy with your work? Based on the career survey and the questions listed above, what do you feel would be the best career path for you? Which career do you specifically feel will work for you? Why do you think you will be successful at your chosen occupation? Do you have a backup plan, if you "dream career" does not work out as planned?
