3. What processes drive ocean waves?  If you have ever been to the beach or sailed on the sea, you know the ocean’s surface has many faces.  Sometimes the water is choppy, sending big waves to the shore; while, on other days, the water can be calm, not even a ripple hitting the shore.

4. What is a wave?  A wave is a disturbance that transfers energy through matter or space.  A wave carries ENERGY!  When the ocean is calm, it is carrying very little energy.  When the ocean is churning with countless waves, it is carrying lots of energy.  What transfers this energy?  WIND!
