3 Agreement: -50 acres of land, tools, food for a year, (Indentured servants 5 acres) They must: 1.Defend the colony (BUFFER) 2.Pass to male heir 3.Plant Mulberry Trees

4 VOYAGE -Nov 17, 1732 -88 days -114-125 people -“Anne” main ship, 3 total LANDING: Yamacraw Bluff John and Mary Musgrove were the Interpreters.-

5 Georiga 13 th colony Started with 4 large tents. Robert Castell had designed the city in 4 squares. 20 lots 60 X 90. First build sun dail, well, courthouse, mill, and bakery. 1734 German Protestants-given land 25 miles from Savannah Ebenezer-rock of help. Saltzburgers were these German Protestants.

6 Feb 1736 Tomochichi, Yamacraw Chief and 300 Natives carried to England. Great Embarkment-many returned. 1739 English and Spanish War “War of Jenkins Ear” Robert Jenkins ear cut off by Spanish. Only battle in Georgia was the Battle of Bloody March-St. Simons.

7 Malcontents-people wanted to grow money crops instead of grapes and mullberry trees. Jews-42 landed and allowed to stay, but Trustees did not want them. Catholic-1 st doctor Samuel Nunis Moravians-German Protestants school for Indians, later moved.

8 Scottish Highlanders-Settled at Darien and brought over to help defend the colony. Frederica-fort on St Simons (British fort very expensive. John and Charles Wesley-First Sunday School and started the Methodist church. George Whitfield-Bethesda Orphanage

9 1743 Oglethorpe left Ga. never to return. Felt Ga. was a failure because no wine or silk. Georgia’s Presidents: William Stephens Henry Parker Patrick Graham
