Pareto Principle: Vilfredo Pareto, through data analysis, was able to demonstrate that 80% of the land in Italy belonged to 20% of the families. Similarly, on a statistical basis, 80% of your risk exposure can be attributed to 20% of your hazards.

Complete risk assessments for the 20% in consultation with others who may also be involved with the activities– do them thoroughly, do them well! Use the risk assessment process to develop a common understanding about the hazards and the methods that are chosen to control the risk exposure.
