1 2.2.15 The Cell BKWK S- 1. What is this tool called?
We will differentiate between the structure and function of plant and animal cells by completing graphic organizers using our science textbook. S- 1. What is this tool called? 2. What is it used for? 3. Why is this tool important in the study of cells?

2 P – Read pages A – Complete the following - Classify Differentiate 411 C – Summarize and connect it 413 E – Complete and turn in 414

3 2.3-4.15 Plant and Animal Cell Posters
We will differentiate between the structure and function of plant and animal cells by creating a poster. S- Explain at least 3 differences between a plant and animal cell.

4 P – Define and answer Define the following: Cell - Structure -
Function - Organelle - Smallest unit capable of doing life functions. Organization of parts What something does; it’s purpose Parts inside a cell with specific functions. What is a main difference between a eukaryotic and a prokaryotic cell? Eukaryotic cells have a nucleus and prokaryotic cells do not.

5 TURN IN 413 and 414 from yesterday!
AC - Create a poster of both an animal cell and a plant cell. Must have structure and function. THIS WILL BE A TEST GRADE 20 pts.- Draw a plant and animal cells on the front of a poster. 20 pts.- Label all organelles on each drawing. 40- Write the functions next to each labeled organelle (on both cells) 20pts.- Neatness, COLORED and accurate TURN IN 413 and 414 from yesterday!

6 AC - Create a poster of both an animal cell and a plant cell
AC - Create a poster of both an animal cell and a plant cell. Must have structure and function. 7 E - Reflection Reflect on what you did the past two days in class and whether it helped you understand the difference between the structure and function of plant and animal cells.

8 2.5.15 Poster Presentation S:
We will recognize the structure and function of cells by conducting an egg lab S: Complete the levels of organization from simplest to most complex in the boxes. Use words below: Tissue, Cell, Organ, Organism, Organ system, Biome, Community, Population, Ecosystem Organ System Organism Cell Tissue Organ Population Community Ecosystem Biome

9 P: vocab quiz 1. ___ produces ATP (energy) for the cell.
___ what something does ___ explains that all cells came from other cells 4. ___what something is made from 5. ___ basic unit of life 6. ___ organelle that performs photosynthesis 7. ___a group of tissues working together 8. ___ part of a cell that controls what goes in and out 9. ___ holds water and waste for a plant cell 10. ___ an organelle that digests old organelles Word Bank Mitochondria Function Structure Chloroplast Lysosomes Cell membrane Vacuole Cell theory Organ cell

10 Mitochondria Function Cell theory Structure Cell Chloroplast Organ Cell membrane Vacuole Lysosomes

11 Work on your posters! A –

12 C – Peer grade E – Reflect on your grade. Explain what you might of done different.

13 2.6.15 Write to learn: Cell Analogy
We will differentiate between the structure and function of plant and animal cells by writing to learn using S- Write the name of each biome. 3. 1. 2. 4.

14 P – Mini-Assessment

15 A – Complete the Cell Analogy Handout
CE – Write a one page paper comparing the parts and function of a cell to a school.
