3 3 UC/CSU ENERGY POLICIES: The UC Regents “Sustainability Policy” requires: –new construction and major renovation projects to meet or exceed the equivalent of LEED certified (not required to document with USGBC - some campuses have opted to achieve & document for LEED silver) –new construction projects must go thru the statewide IOU new construction program “Savings by Design” (SBD) and use Labs 21 –new construction and major renovation projects must exceed the current Title 24 by 20% –renovation projects with budget over $5 million (and budget approval after July 1, 2007) must meet the equivalent of a LEED-CI Certified level CSU’s Policies on Energy and Green Building: –Executive Order 987 requires campuses to reduce energy use by 15% by FY 09/10 over base year 03/04 –CSU new construction targets 15% beyond Title 24 –CSU’s new “Program for Environmental Responsibility (CSUPER)” will be out in fall 2007 and encourages but does not require LEED (some individual campuses are using LEED) –CSU projects are encouraged to use Savings by Design, LEED and Labs 21 but are not required to do so
