3 It All Started With One Child...
When your child is sick, nothing else (should) matter In 1974, Fred Hill of the Philadelphia Eagles had a sick daughter, Kim, in the hospital and experienced the hardships of ‘living in a hospital’ (sleeping on the floor, eating out of vending machines, etc.) Together, a family in need (Fred Hill,) a friend, a doctor, McDonald’s and a supportive community made the dream a reality when it created the very first Ronald McDonald House. Ronald McDonald House offers a place to call home at little or no cost so families can afford the best care for their child. RMH allows families to stay together helping their children heal faster and cope better. “At the time I didn’t enjoy being sick. But I’m glad I did get sick, because through my suffering, a great thing has come from it.” -Kim Hill, 1983

4 Ronald McDonald House Mission
Dedicated to providing safe and supportive temporary home-like housing to families of seriously ill children receiving medical treatment. Serving families with a child 0-21 who is receiving medical treatment. 82% of families we serve are from Maine. RMH has served over 5,400 families since opening our doors in Families that stay at our House have children 21 years and younger receiving care at a nearby hospital.
