Poor scalability – linear searching Multiple archives only achieved by a hack No formal support for non-ASCII characters – bad for non-English data Complex data structures – Difficult to add new tools

Custom rendering of values –Built in render function which spots LaTeX and renders it as images. –Or write your own Optional ID part for name fields –Uniquely identify people –Names are not unique. –May be used to build CV information

Actual EPrints 2.0 installer written in PERL. –Does not use make & configure –Less operating system related problems Now only sends mail. Does not need to run a sendmail server.

11 EPrints 2.0 / March 4 th 2002 / Glasgow / Chris Gutteridge Vitality and Support Planning to join GNU Project (GNU EPrints) Lots of funding! –EPrints software is developed with funding from JISC via the Open Citation and OPSIS (Open- Sourcing Institutional Self-Archiving) projects. –BOAI (not funding us, but funding for the general area). Free Software (GPL!)
