Anthony (women’s rights), Mary McLeod Bethune (education), Franklin D. Roosevelt (New Deal and World War II), Eleanor Roosevelt (United Nations and human rights), Thurgood Marshall (civil rights), Lyndon B. Johnson (Great Society and voting rights), and César Chávez (workers’ rights). b.Explain social barriers, restrictions, and obstacles that these historical figures had to overcome and describe how they overcame them.

LO.B: Students will be able to identify different social barriers, restrictions, and obstacles they faced in their particular areas.

5 ELA EQ and LO EQ: What do you know about prewriting during the process of an autobiography and/or memoir? LO: Students will be able to pre-write and autobiography and/or memoir.

6 What is the difference between an autobiography and memoir? Autobiography- an account of a person's life written by that person Memoir- a historical account or biography written from personal knowledge

7 What is prewriting? Prewriting is the first stage of the writing process. One way you can prewrite is to use a graphic organizer to organize your thoughts. On a graphic organizer you should have: The topic Main ideas/ points Theme Setting
