2 2 Overview Canadian District (7) of ITE International Celebrating nearly 60 years of service Comprised of 12 sections, 1 chapter and 11 student chapters Over 1,800 members (420 students) and growing!

4 4 Update of Strategic Plan Held a meeting of CITE Board and representatives in Toronto early this year Reviewed Strategic Plan, with view to updating the plan Will form the basis of Executive’s mandate for next 2 years: –Communications: have hired Communications Coordinator –Advocacy: articles in Transportation Talk –Technical Projects

5 5 Strategic Plan (2006) Focus on Services to the Individual: –Training and education –Advocacy –Information exchange –Professional development Leadership Development: –Define opportunities for people to continue on beyond the Section Executive level Training: –Projects leading to seminars

6 6 Upcoming 2010 Conferences ITE Technical Conference – Savannah, Georgia in March –Focus on sustainability ITE Annual Meeting – Vancouver, B.C., August 8 -11 –Joint International / District meeting –Traffic Bowl competition for students

8 8 Technical Projects Current and recently completed projects: –Update to Canadian Capacity Guide for Signalized Intersections –Promoting Sustainable Transportation Through Site Design and Greenmodes software –Transportation Considerations for Developing School Sites –Evaluating Safety Performance of Neighbourhood Designs (financial sponsor) –Roundabouts –Update to Neighbourhood Traffic Calming Guide Technical Liaison Committee coordinates

9 9 Partnership with TAC –Appointees to TAC Committees: Traffic Operations and Management Standing Committee (TOMSC – 5) and Road Safety (1) Chief Engineers Council (1) Seeking Geometric Design Standing Committee –Funding relationship for TAC projects: Neighbourhood Traffic Calming Transit Signal Priority

10 10 Student Programs Three $2,000 scholarships annually: –Michel Van Aerde – Doctoral –John Vardon – Masters –CITE iTrans – Undergraduate $400 support for Sections to host presentation competitions $1,000 and registration for Student Presentation Competition and scholarship winners to attend Annual Conference

11 11 Student Programs (cont’d) Student paper award sponsored by Stantec ($1,000 to attend conference and $500 honorarium) Support for Academic Advisors (Annual ITE membership, Annual Conference registration and one-time $500 contribution) Student events at the Annual Conference
