4  A Brief history: ◦ Originally compulsory inspection for members ◦ Replaced because of cost ◦ First scheme developed around 2000  Aid H & S  Checklist  Little procedural requirements  Minimal documentation  Poor marketing

6  How did we do it? Gained commitment from members Secured development funding Engaged professional consultant Created a working group Engaged with BSI Engaged with wider group Launched December 2010

9  How does it work? Assessment process  Independent, accredited assessors  Two part assessment o Desk Top o Site (includes equipment inspection) Validity  3 year certificate  Annual site compliance check  Full re-assessment every 3 years

10  Following the launch Marketing and PR to members’ clients Agreeing mutual recognition with other bodies Creating desire in existing members and their clients Creating web based tools for: assessment members to manage their systems
