1 WW Why Evaluation?

2 Evaluation formalizes the shared responsibility of state and LEAs to improve student achievement and close the achievement gap in order to have all students reach proficiency. Why??

It also serves as the basis for identifying those schools or districts that may need differentiated support to reach their goals.

Race to the Top Definition  Effective teacher: statewide definitions based in large part on student growth and also include other measures, such as classroom observations of practice. ESEA Reauthorization Definition What is an effective teacher?

7 Effective teachers have high expectations for all students and help student learn, as measured by value-added or other test-based growth measures, or by alternative measures.
