2. (Lk.23:32-43) 32. And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death. 33. And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. 34. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. 35. And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. 36. And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, 37. And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.

3. (Lk.23:32-43) 38. And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. 39. And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. 40. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? 41. And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. 42. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22. Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

5. 3 Men on 3 Crosses I. He Died For Sins: (vs.34) 34. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. (2Cor.5:21) 21. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

6. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 1. He chose to carry the burden of humanity: (Is.53:4) 2. He chose to become our substitute: (Is.53:5) But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 3. He chose to bare the sins of many: (Is.53:12) Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 1. (Mt.4:6)> Satan did it when tempting Jesus. 2. (Lk.23:35)> rulers did it! 35. And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. 3. (Lk.23:36-37)> Soldiers did the same thing! 36. And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, 37. And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.

Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him. II. He Died In Sin: (vs.39) III. He died To sin: (vs.40-42)

14. THIEF WASN’T BAPTIZED SO I DON’T HAVE TO BE! Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 1 ST The thief lived under the Old law (Col.2:14)

15. THIEF WASN’T BAPTIZED SO I DON’T HAVE TO BE! 12. For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. 1 ST The thief lived under the Old law: (Col.2:14) (Heb.7:12)>there was a change in the law! (Heb.9:16-17)> tells us when Christ’s law went into effect! 16. For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17. For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

16. THIEF WASN’T BAPTIZED SO I DON’T HAVE TO BE! 5. Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan, 6. And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. 1 ST The thief lived under the Old law (Col.2:14) 2 nd How do you know he wasn’t baptized? (Mt.3:5-6)

17. THIEF WASN’T BAPTIZED SO I DON’T HAVE TO BE! (Jn.4:1-2) 1. When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, 2. (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) 1 ST The thief lived under the Old law (Col.2:14) 2 nd How do you know he wasn’t baptized? (Mt.3:5-6) *Couldn’t the thief been among that number?

18. THIEF WASN’T BAPTIZED SO I DON’T HAVE TO BE! 6. But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. 1 ST The thief lived under the Old law (Col.2:14) 2 nd How do you know he wasn’t baptized? (Mt.3:5-6) 3. Jesus had the power to forgive sins while on earth! (Mt.9:6)
