2 What is ‘Spoken Language’? Any type of verbal communication; it is also if we write how we speak lol! What will I have to do in the Controlled Assessment? Analyse the language used by you and your friends/family and explaining how you adapt these depending on the context. You will also be exploring various attitudes to spoken language. You will be doing your own research to prepare for this assessment. 3 Idiolect 1.Language choices (individual words and phrases) which are specific and unique to an individual. 2.How you say a word/phrase e.g. ‘orite’ Vs ‘awright’ Vs ‘alright’. Note : you might not be the only person who says these words, but you may say them more frequently or in a different way to others. 7 People who change and adapt language to make them sound unique is pathetic: everyone should speak the same. To what exent do you agree with this statement? 1.Write a paragraph arguing your opinion and explain why using examples. 2.I expect 7 sentences minimum.
