1 -“A better world through kindness to animals”

2  “To lead a kindness revolution that transforms the way people relate to animals, nature, and each other.”

3  Started in the late 1980s  Best Friends reaches across the nation and around the world, helping local communities to rescue animals in distress and to set up, spay/neuter, shelter, foster, and adoption programs in cities across the nation.  They find homes for dogs and cats that are considered unadoptable.  They go to shelters and homes and pick out dogs or cats that have mental or physical problems and place them in a loving home.

4  They reduced the death rate of animals in shelters from 17 million a year to about 5 million per year.  They helped during Hurricane Katrina and with natural disasters in saving the lives of animals and placing them into foster homes.  Even though this entirely nonprofit organization, Best Friends Network has built animal sanctuaries all across the U.S.  Best Friends Animal Society is the largest no-kill sanctuary in the US providing international support to the animal welfare movement.
