Government could no longer afford to provide for all the people Economic system collapsed Oppression and poverty were widespread Criminals were running amuck Lots of government corruption Extreme alcoholism and drug addiction Atheist Government – didn’t support religion

11 The End of the U.S.S.R. On Christmas Day of 1991, the Soviet Union officially ended its own existence, marking the end of over 70 years of repression and 45 years of Soviet-American conflict.
