7  “History is written by the Victors.”  All history is subject to point of view, which means it is seen through the perspective or opinion of the creator.  Because all history is seen from a point of view it is subject to bias, or personal preference/prejudice about a specific topic.  American Revolution

8  A fight for independence from the British over issues of taxation and lack of rights. The Colonists won, and were liberated from the British King! TAUGHT TO EVERY AMERICAN STUDENT.  The American Colonies rebelled against the Crown. An effort was made to reunify the Colony, but was abandoned do to its unpopularity. Britain gained a great trading partner. NOT EVEN MENTIONED IN ENGLAND.

9  Historians normally attempt to put things in the order that they happen making a Chronology.  Once events are in order they divide them into periods of time (periodization)  Three long periods in World History are: Ancient Medieval Modern

10  Where something happens can be just as important as When something happens in history.  Spatial Frame: Concerns geographic perspectives that historians apply to world events.  Interregional: an event in two or more regions at once.

12  There are three “habits of mind” that can be used for history. 1. Look for patterns over time and space.  Why did many of the first civilizations arise in river valleys? 2. Make comparisons within and among societies.  Compare and Contrast the river valley civilizations of Egypt and China. 3. Assess Universal Standards in light of cultural difference.  How do the governments of modern day Egypt and China compare when considering the rights provided to their people?
